  1. ddSortPPC is a small app for the PowerMac
  2. which sorts records of a file into ascending 
  3. order based on a case sensitive compare of 
  4. the first 10 chars of each record.  It 
  5. believes a record to be a sequence of bytes 
  6. terminated by a carriage return (0x0D).  
  7.  
  8. ddSortPPC sorts in memory and overwrites the 
  9. input file with its output . 
  10.  
  11. BEWARE: any file dragged to ddSortPPC will 
  12. be sorted and rewritten, even if it is an
  13. app.
  14.  
  15. ddSortPPC has no UI--drag and drop only.
  16.  
  17. Memory can be a limitation.  Temp Memory
  18. (system) is used if enough is available.
  19.  
  20. A 68K version is possible but I don't have 
  21. one now.
